To start off with, we wish everyone a Happy New Year and a good 2012, may all your resolutions go well! (although we all know they probably wont
)
In the run up to Christmas a test build of RGLoader/RGBuild2 got accidently leaked on IRC. This build was not made for public consumption and may have many bugs and problems with it. The RGLoader team will not provide any support for this leaked build so please don’t come on the IRC channel asking about it. You may find support on message boards but it’s likely if your having a problem with RGLoader it’ll be fixed in the final release.
Recently we’ve been made aware that there are certain (sad, sad..) individuals who took it upon themselves to edit this leak and repackage it with files which can potentially brick your box for good. So far we’ve had one confirmed report of a package (which has now been removed) which erased a users NAND. Fortunately this isn’t so bad as it can easily be reflashed, but we have also heard rumors of people attempting to modify our patches so that fuses get blown on system startup. WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES DONE TO YOUR XBOX! We never made you use the package, let alone a >>LEAKED<< package, as in not intended for release. To play it safe you should wait for the official RGLoader release which will be made very soon after we add a few important last minute features.
Since we haven’t updated this blog in some time, here’s a small FAQ on whats going on:
Q: So whats RGLoader about?
A: RGLoader is a project to get a hacked kernel running on a glitched (and maybe soon JTAG) console. We intend to do this via three seperate constructs: RGBuild the image builder, patches for the 2BL and kernel/HV and the image config inis.
Q: But hasn’t it already been done?
A: Yup, XeBuild accomplishes the same goal but focuses on retail patches instead. RGLoader on the other hand has devkit patches and allows you to run a devkit kernel on your glitched retail box. We are also making the whole suite open-source, allowing people a better insight into the 360 than before.
Q: So who are you guys?
A: We credit ourselves as “#RGLoader@EFNet” since the whole community on IRC has played a huge role in helping develop RGLoader, although the programs and patches were mainly developed by tydye81 and I (stoker25) with small outside contributions every now and again. RGLoader is an open project however and anyone can pitch in as much as they like.
Q: Whats the story about it? I’ve heard things on IRC…
A: There is no story, well there was a story but its a stupid story (although people love to give their version of events!) . Moral of it is that people shouldn’t be dicks all the time.
Q: Wheres the download?
A: Check your local kiddie-modder forum as the respectable sites have removed it by now. Although it’s highly advised you wait for an official release from the RGLoader team.
Q: Help! xxx broke my yyy
A: Read above: NO SUPPORT!
Q: Can I test for you guys?
A: Sure, get in touch with either tydye81 or stoker25 on IRC, you might want to quote this post just in case we forget. If we don’t answer it’s because we aren’t there and the bouncers are looking after stuff for us.
Q: Can I donate to the team?
A: We aren’t taking donations at the minute, hell we still haven’t even released anything properly yet! Maybe in the future we’ll setup a PayPal specifically for RGLoader, but it’s not on the cards right now. (if you donated during the early stages of RGLoader, you aren’t forgotten
)
Q: derp you guize, i didnt fink ud get anywhar but u did zomg! but me nd my 1337 group of fags had it working 2 months before you and what ur missing xyz which we got done WEEKS ago!
A: Good for you, but there’s no need for trying to flaunt it about in a bid for attention. Now please, go crawl back into your cave.
Q: … copyrighted content … stolen code … you guys suck … your ruining it for everybody now
A: Y U NO FUN? I guess your part of the 1% right? RGLoader was never intended to come with any copyrighted content at all, even down to the dlls used for compression. What people are judging right now is a >>TESTER-ONLY<< leak, the final release will depend on the user to find any copyrighted files themselves.
RGBuild2 was coded from the ground up, semi-based on my (stoker25) Xbox 360 NAND Editor (the source is up on XBH). The only part of RGLoader where we may of borrowed stuff is in the patches, and if your really stressing about not getting credit you can always just get in touch and we’ll credit you accordingly, but the basic jive of the scene is for people to be anonymous so that’s how we credited them.
Q: Don’t you guys watch Toy Story 3 and sell pirate games on ebay?
A: No, this is just another tale made up by THE MAN to try and BRING US DOWN!
Q: *person you thought was noob gets dev kernel running* — ZOMG BLOCKED!
A: and I thought we were friends
